Journey to Londonderry and County Donegal
Traversing Northern Ireland, we arrive at the old walled city of Londonderry on the Foyle River, where we join a Local Specialist who will take us to its most iconic sights. Delving into the former struggles of the region, we visit the People's Gallery in Bogside to view its poignant murals. We journey to County Donegal later, where we will spend the next two nights. This evening, enjoy a tasty dinner in our hotel.
Take a drive across the border to visit the award-winning folk park in Omagh, where you'll stroll through three centuries of emigration. Explore old-style thatched cottages from Ireland. Exit an emigrant ship to the New World and visit the homes and paddocks of the settlers. There is also a themed indoor exhibition centre.

Admire Belleek’s Famous Pottery

Pilgrimage to Knock and on to Galway
The highlight of this morning’s drive south for lovers of poetry is a view of the final resting place of celebrated Irish poet W.B. Yeats in Drumcliff. Continuing to the pilgrimage town of Knock, we visit the beautiful Marian Shrine where the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, and John the Evangelist are said to have made an appearance to the townsfolk in 1879. We continue to Galway.

This Benedictine monastery, built on the grounds of Kylemore Castle, features a magnificent Victorian Walled Garden, which we will have an opportunity to explore before returning to Galway. Our sightseeing trip across the rugged beauty of Ireland continues as we see the spectacular UNESCO-listed Cliffs of Moher plunging into the wild Atlantic over 200 metres below. Traverse beautiful County Wexford to the John F. Kennedy Arboretum – a peaceful retreat in New Ross with over 4,500 species of plants across 252 hectares dedicated to the former American president. We leave the enchanting outdoors behind and take a step back in time to the 1800s as we visit the three-masted Dunbrody Famine Ship. We’ll Dive Into Culture, gaining insight into the tragic plight of the Irish emigrants, who were compelled to leave their home during the potato famine and endured even harsher conditions than at home in the 'coffin ships' that took them to new lands. The itinerary was great, got to see so much of Ireland, from cities to small townes, and the beautiful countryside, the Wicklow mountains are just so beautiful, seeing where the Titanic was built and sailed from, to the Dunbrody and who badly the Irish were treated, I had family come over on ships and to find out what they experienced was shocking and opened our eyes to the hardships that they had to endure. To the beautiful Cliffs of Mohar , and finding out there are so many shades of green. Absolutely beautiful.
The Trafalgar experience was wonderful, from the bus driver Aidan, to the wellness director Veronica and lastly our tour director James, they were all so accommodating and just so giving of there time for my husband who has a hard time getting around. James and Veronica were so much fun joining in different elements, just pleasurable to be around and with, and Aidans driving was remarkable, my husband is still yalking about it, a great trip all way around, hated for it to end, and being our 50th Anniversary Trafalgar gave us a plaque to remember our experiences, thank you to all involved, James Aidan and Veronica and lastly Trafalgar, Thank you,
Neil provided exceptional service and was very well informed and interesting about Ireland. Great portage service and meals were good. Loved the two night stops at hotels. Gave a great overview of Ireland.
Shane and Rachel showed us the best of Ireland in a most professional and amazingly fun way. Our little group is so grateful to them for making this such an enjoyable time. They are a top notch team that shared details and inside stories of Ireland that we will never for get. Thank you to Trafalgar for hiring such talented people.
We saw way more than we expected. Very well coordinated by our tour director. We loved seeing the castles, from barely standing to ornate beyond expectations. We also saw 2 dinner/tap dance shows that were really awesome! The weather was usually cooperating, but carry an umbrella!
The itenerary as well as the Hidden Gems, planned by Shane Creegar, provided the full Ireland experience that I had hoped for. The Natural wonders as well as a true Irish experience at local pubs.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them.
What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional) Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
