Always room for improvement. Some of the guides were too scripted and therefore we became disinterested.
Read allUpon arrival in Rome after a 9-hour flight, we were on a 1 1/4-hour motor coach ride to our hotel. We then were not able to be dropped off at our hotel and our luggage brought into the hotel. We were advised that June 2nd is a holiday in Italy and therefore roads were blocked and prevented us from traveling certain roads and direct entry to our hotel. We were ultimately dropped off a couple of blocks from the hotel, had to walk to and handle our own luggage into the hotel. It was hot, crowded sidewalks, walked in the street with our luggage and carry-ons and so we really started off with a bad experience. We got an apology but that was all we got. Rooms not ready (we were early, so understandable), but we wanted to at least refresh somehow. Not offered. I feel in light of the Italian celebration, which is EVERY June 2nd, there should have been a Plan B for our luggage transport to the hotel, so we did not have to move it through the streets of Rome, literally! Also, don't know if it is a new protocol because of Covid, but two of us in our family group are over 70 and were never offered a hand off the motor coach the entire trip by either the tour director or driver. We are stable and can keep up, but I have never experienced this in my 7 Globus Travel trips abroad. All six of us in our family group asked repeatedly for help in acquiring Euros and we never received accurate information or direction on locations to do this. There were only 18 of us on this tour, so I felt there could have been a little more attention to detail. Too many optional excursions offered and ultimately looks like it was they were just for Trafalgar revenue generating. We would have preferred to spend more than 1 hour in some of the towns. We felt rushed often which our tour director explained he thought was better to see more than less even if we spent short times at each stop. We disagreed. I think I will continue to stay with Globus. But I will say Trafalgar's family tour that we took in 2018 was terrific for the kids AND adults. Really worked and terrific tour director and driver.

She was very knowledgeable and personable and the entire group enjoyed her leadership. I have recommended the company to many of my friends and will continue to use their servicesq in the future.
