Customer experience is the standard of service you receive
Trafalgar is always there...plain and simple. Despite having to leave the tour early and isolate in a hotel room due to COVID, Trafalgar personnel ensured we had what was needed
Best of Portugal was our fifth trip with Trafalgar, but first since the start of the pandemic. We were extremely happy with the precautions put in place and the addition of the Wellness Director. Our TD Catarina was amazing, went above and beyond, and truly represented her country well. Wellness Director Romeo always made sure hands were sanitized and masks were being worn as appropriate.
We were able to see all the highlights and were also given time for "exploration" at many sites. We liked all of the hotels but preferred those that didn't have all the sleek modernisms like NO hooks in the bathroom and shutters to close off the window between the room and the bathroom. We rated the hotel rooms in terms of "Would we want to be quarantined for 10 days in this room?" By that standard, the Fatima Hotel was a winner. My only suggestion would be to change the ear pieces for the audio systems. I have been on tours with ear pieces that hung over the ear and rested at the entrance. The hard fitted ear pieces hurt my ears and caused raw spots in my ear.
We arranged to attend church services and the staff provided help for us to do that. We also planned an extra night out on our own, and the trip coordinator was very helpful. I was very impressed with all the little extra opportunities to try local specialties that were provided by the staff. Given that we had to be tested for Corona Virus very often, the staff provided smooth access that limited its intrusion into the activities of the tour. I was very pleased with the efforts made to make us comfortable and happy. The staff responded very well to my 12-year-old grandson by reinforcing his enthusiasm and encouraging his curiosity.
Itinerary was great, except maybe one of the excursions. The hotels were really nice, except one place where the water was cold. The coach was great as well, except that the leg space could have been better (for someone tall like me). I say that only because I had recently traveled with another company where the leg space was better.
It was a great experience traveling with Trafalgar. The hotels were great, experiences were very pleasant and the travel was comfortable. The Tour Director, Driver and the Health/Hygiene specialist were amazing people. The TD took care of my dietary preferences and also helped quite a bit when my baggage did not arrive with me. The overall team created a great chemistry within the group, making it a highly pleasant experience for everyone. I would highly recommend Trafalgar, and would definitely travel with them again.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them.
What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional) Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
