While each traveller should speak to their doctor before heading off on a babymoon, most people undergoing a routine pregnancy with no medical complications are okay to fly domestically up until their third trimester before the 36th week. Many airlines restrict international travel after 28 weeks, so be sure to also check with your airline on their policies.
The first step in planning the perfect babymoon is choosing the best time for your trip. Most doctors recommend travelling in the second trimester between 14 and 28 weeks, before your bump gets too big. Then all you have to do is choose your favourite Trafalgar babymoon trip, book your flights, pack your bags, then let us take care of everything!
The best babymoon holiday destinations are relaxed and romantic. We love the tranquil Italian lakes, the gorgeous scenery of Switzerland, the soothing beaches of Portugal, and the magical Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and Lake Bled in Slovenia. We also love reconnecting with nature in Australia and New Zealand and getting a dose of inspiration in Morocco.
The term ‘babymoon’ was coined by British author Sheila Kitzinger in her 1996 book ‘The Year after Childbirth’. It was originally defined as the period of time after a baby’s birth that the family spends alone with the baby to encourage bonding, but the concept has since grown to include the kid-less holidays expecting parents take before their little one arrives and the non-stop feeding and nappy changing begins.
