 Bras Basah Bugis Precinct – Singapore’s Arts & Heritage District

“Dive into Culture” with a 2-hr guided walking tour around the arts and heritage enclave of the Bras Basah Bugis precinct as draw the curtain up on Singapore’s colourful past. We will start from Waterloo Street, a treasure trove of stories with its own distinctive character as one of Singapore’s oldest streets. Discover the agglomeration of arts spaces, national monuments and former prestigious schools that have formed the neighbourhood’s multicultural identity.  Where else can one find religious buildings of Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism co-existing alongside a vibrant arts community? Learn how Waterloo Street came to have its iconic Mandarin moniker "Si Ma Lu” (directly translated as “Four Horse Road” in English).

 Tiong Bahru Afternoon Delight 

After lunch, we will head over to Tiong Bahru – Singapore’s oldest public housing estate with many  ‘Hidden Gems’ of architectural, cultural and historic significance. Walk through the eclectic neighborhood with your travel director on the way to Bincho and glean some interesting stories about its unique social history and its transformation into a vibrant lifestyle enclave.

Embark on a culinary adventure at Bincho for our Be My Guest experience. You can watch and chat with Chef Asai as he masterfully uses the Bincho –tan grill while you enjoy a tasting menu of different cuts of the tori {chicken} along with some unique specialties.*

As a dual-concept restaurant combining a 70-year old mee pok stall by day that transforms into a copper hued, other-worldly dining destination in the evening, Bincho is a hidden gem for those in the know. The name of the restaurant is inspired by Bincho-tan, the unique, white charcoal used in Japan to grill yakitori. The Japanese are known to understand the nuances that create beautiful things, for their precision and attention to detail. Chef Asai stays true to this with his approach to cooking.
