Gaining priority early admission, we admire the magnificent frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel when it is less crowded and visit St. Peter's Basilica, the greatest church in Christendom, to see Michelangelo's sorrowful Pietà. Crossing the Tiber, we venture into Ancient Rome to visit the imposing Colosseum and view Circus Maximus, once the site of tremendous chariot races. Spend a leisurely afternoon exploring Rome. Customer experience is the standard of service you receive
Jelle and all of the other staff were amazing. We would definitely use Trafalgar again and would even look for more Jelle -led tours. We were able to do all of the main points of Italy in five cities in just 7 days and didn't feel rushed. Great experiences, unique access, and a great group to travel with. Thanks!
What an amazing vacation we had in Italy. Our wonderful Travel Director, Gianmarco focused on all the trip details while we focused on the fun! Carlo was a great bus driver who navigated our way all over the country. The citizens of Italy were so gracious and welcoming to us. They truly appreciated our visit to their country, and it felt good to support their economy. With all the travel requirements and high vaccination rate, Italy felt like the safest place on earth. We are so happy we decided to take this trip. The weather was just perfect, and we were able to see so much. Thank you Trafaglar for helping us recharge and experience normalcy again. This trip was exactly what we needed. We plan to travel with Trafaglar again – can’t imagine experiencing Europe any other way!
The service provided was wonderful and super helpful. Our tour guide took the time to verify food preferences and helped with our luggage issues. If I could I would ask for the same tour guide for my tours around the world.
Gianmarco was our tour director in Italy and he was incredible. The whole tour was well planned and well executed. I will use trafalgar again for future experiences!
All trip events were executed very well. Local specialists were well informed. Travel Director, Driver, and Wellness Director were very competent. Hotels were very good.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them. What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional)
Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
