8 Day France Tour of D-Day Beaches, Mont-Saint-Michel and the Loire Valley
Travel from Paris and the Loire Valley to the D-Day landing beaches on this in-depth France and Normandy tour. Imagine life as a French noble when you dine at a château and learn about the battles that were fought here through the ages.
Bienvenue! The 'City of Lights' welcomes you as you prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through France. Join your fellow travellers and Travel Director this evening for a Welcome Reception and orientation drive to admire the glittering cityscape of Paris – past grand boulevards and iconic sites like the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.
Admire Normandy’s Colourful Honfleur and the Bayeux Tapestry
This morning, we depart Paris and venture to the city of Rouen, the tragic site where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. We travel to the enchanting harbour town of Honfleur – its narrow lanes and colourful shopfronts have long attracted artists who have immortalised its beauty on canvas. Arriving in Bayeux, we visit the Tapestry Museum. Here you’ll Dive Into Culture and see the Bayeux Tapestry, depicting events before and during the Battle of Hastings in 1066. This evening, we dine at our hotel.
We begin the day visiting the American Rangers Memorial at Pointe du Hoc. Pay tribute to the brave souls who lost their lives on the D-Day Landing Beaches of Omaha, imagining the sense of terror and triumph felt the fateful day that Allied forces set foot on mainland Europe. We stop for lunch in the seaside setting of Arromanches, once at the heart of the Normandy landings, before visiting the D-Day Museum to learn about the artificial harbour used by the Allies. Finish the day on the beaches of Juno, where the Canadian forces came ashore in 1944.

It was just as it said in the brochure. Being in Normandy on d day was areal highlight. Local guides were very informative.
Our travel director, *************, was an absolutely wonderful tour director in every aspect. She was full of insightful facts and information about each of the areas that we visited, and her charming personality made the trip a lighthearted and fun affair. Her assistance beyond her regular job duties was very much appreciated and relieved some of the anxieties that my travel companion and I had about international travel. I greatly enjoyed my week in France.
Trafalgar has wonderful travel directors and drivers. We even had a wellness director who was delightful. I like that Trafalgar has standards about everything and I have come to trust that. This was my 2nd trip with them I and will have many more. *********** was wonderful, kind and very informative, a joy to have as a guide.

What is an Active Trip? This is an "Active" lifestyle itinerary, with walks and hikes most days. Hikes will range from easy/moderate to strenuous. No technical climbing skills are required but a reasonable level of fitness is required to make the trip more enjoyable. Understanding that not all people want to hike at the same pace or even on the same trail we will, where possible, host map orientation and then let everyone disperse to enjoy the trails best suited to them. What to Pack Guests should bring lightweight hiking shoes or boots, broad brimmed sun hats, sunglasses, layered clothing, reusable water bottle(s), a hiking day pack and hiking poles (optional)
Weather & Altitude While the itinerary is laid out below, we are at the mercy of the weather and so reserve the right to adjust the program as necessary. Please keep in mind that the higher elevations and possible variations in weather and temperature can increase the perceived level of difficulty of our activities. Elevation ranges up to 9,000 feet for Utah’s Mighty Five and up to 11,000 feet for California High Country Adventure.
Everyone reacts differently to altitude and so if you do have any health issues you should check with your doctor that this trip is suitable for you.
